This is a common question and the best answer is to seek tutoring before the child has reached the failing point. Parents often wait until a particularly bad report card comes home before calling a tutor in to help and this means that a tutor will need additional hours to not only catch up with his or her classmates, but to actually pass the course. Whenever possible, we advise parents to seek assistance as soon as the child begins performing badly on quizzes, tests, and/or homework assignments. It is much easier to support a student in this early stage and to maintain self-confidence than it is after a student has received a failing grade for any course.
