As you may well know, your child, regardless of age, acts differently when you are around. Tutors need to develop a positive working relationship with the student as soon as possible and this is far more difficult to do with a parent present. It is understandable that parents want to know exactly what is happening in the class with their child and to be assured that their child is settling in and working appropriately. If you feel strongly about sitting in during a portion of the first tutoring session, we would advise you to do so at the end of the session rather than the beginning and ideally for no longer than 10 minutes of the session, so as not to disrupt the process.

Remember too that you will receive a communication log with details about the activities and exercises completed during the tutoring session, along with quarterly updates on your child's progress in the class.
